WORKPACKAGE 2

TASK 1 ‘Project stereotype’

What is ‘ stereotype’:

Wikipedia: A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing: the stereotype of the woman as the carersexual and racial stereotypes.

Cambridge Diccionary: a set idea that people have about what someone or something is like, especially an idea that is wrong: racial/sexual stereotypes / He doesn't conform to/fit/fill the national stereotype of a Frenchman. The characters in the book are just stereotypes.

Do you agree with certain ‘stereotypes’?

PART 1:

1-     Star by doing a brainstorm session as a group.  Share opinions and talk about the four countries that are involved in ViWo project. Try to describe that country in just WORDS. While talking about the countries you will find yourself saying words that describe an idea that you have about that country or describe a STEREOTYPE. You will soon notice that everyone has a different idea or maybe a lot of similar ideas!...Stereotypes?

2-     Make a list of words that describe the most the country you are discussing. Do this for all the 4 countries involve in VIWO project. IT COULD BE ANYTHING about that country (food, culture, music, art, landscape, nature, animals, people, etc.) At the end you will come out with four lists of words: One list for Spain, one for The Netherlands, another one for Finland and the fourth for Germany (you country of course is included!).

3-     START working with YOUR COUNTRY. What do you think people really know about your country? What is your country famous for? Do people have the right ‘image’ about your country? Are there things they misplaced? Misunderstood? Does the image foreigners have of your country match with the SELLING MARKETING images of you national tourism campaign office? Are these ‘positive’ images?

4-     Post the list on the WORKPACKAGE 2 in our VIWO BLOG! It could be a picture of your list or just write the list of words in the blog.
